Regarding the Response of Hamas to the Proposal of U.S. President Trump
Out of concern to halt the aggression and the war of extermination being inflicted upon our steadfast people in the Gaza Strip, and based on national responsibility, and out of care for the fundamnetals of our people, their rights, and their overall interests — the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) held in-depth consultations within its leadership institutions, extensive consultations with Palestinian forces and factions, and consultations with the brothers, mediators, and friends, to reach a responsible position in dealing with the plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
After a comprehensive study, the Movement has made its decision and delivered the following response to the mediators:
The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) appreciates the Arab, Islamic, and international efforts, as well as the efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump, calling for an end to the war on the Gaza Strip, prisoner exchange, the immediate entry of aid, the rejection of the occupation of the Strip, and the refusal to displace our Palestinian people from it.
In this framework, and to achieve the cessation of the war and full withdrawal from the Strip, the Movement announces its agreement to the release of all occupation prisoners, both living and the remains of those dead, according to the exchange formula contained in President Trump’s proposal, and with the provision of the necessary field conditions for the exchange process. Here, the Movement confirms its readiness to immediately enter, through the mediators, into negotiations to discuss the details of this process.
The Movement also reiterates its agreement to hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip to a Palestinian body of independent « technocrats » based on Palestinian national consensus and Arab and Islamic backing.
As for what was included in President Trump’s proposal regarding other issues related to the future of the Gaza Strip and the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, this is tied to a comprehensive national position, and based on the relevant international laws and resolutions, and will be discussed within a comprehensive Palestinian national framework in which Hamas will be included and to which it will contribute with full responsibility.
